Rosacea Types Symptoms and Treatment

Rosacea is  associated with Seborrheic dermatitis because the oil glands are affected in both the instance. Rosacea affects millions of people around the world. Rosacea can range from mild to severe. Rosacea cannot be left untreated, because it can lead to serious health problems.

Types of rosacea

    Ocular rosacea- This type of rosacea involves the disorder of the skin around the eye leaving the person with dryness and itching in his eyes. It is basically characterized by ocular symptoms such as tearing and burning, dry eye and swollen eyelids. A common occurrence with ocular rosacea is styes that may come and go and eyelids become swollen. Due to this it can lead to vision problem and if left untreated may lead to complete loss of the vision.
    Phymatous rosacea- It usually affects the area around the nose. In this case, the skin around the nose are affected and begins to thicken i.e. excess of tissue is developed and due to this, the nose tends to enlarge. This is also known as rhinopyma with the nose becoming red and much larger than the normal size.
    Papulopustular rosacea- It is known as acne rosacea due to similar appearance to acne. It causes a number of bumps and pimples around the center of face. There is constant redness of skin and burning sensation that may affect the face to a great extent.
    Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea- It is characterized by persistent redness and quick flushing of the skin. Other common symptoms include small blood vessels visible on the surface of the skin. If it is left untreated, it can lead to a point where the facial veins seem to be more prominent.

Types of Rosacea Symptoms of rosacea
  •     Redness with itchy bumps or even small blisters covering the entire face
  •     A tendency to flush or blush easily
  •     Increasingly high number of spider-like blood vessels of the face
  •     Acne-like skin eruptions which may ooze or crust
  •     A sensation of burning or stinging of the face
  •     Irritated, bloodshot, watery eyes

Treatment of rosacea

There is no exact cure for rosacea. The main aim is to identify and avoid the possible triggers, which causes inflammation or sensation of burning. Treatment depends upon the causes as well as the type of rosacea. Below are some points, which may be used to avoid rosacea:
  •     Avoid  exposure to sun or heat
  •     Use sunscreen every day to protect the skin
  •     Avoid spicy foods, alcohol, and hot beverages
  •     Avoid prolonged exertion in hot and humid weather
  •     Take some oral medicines as prescribed by the doctor
  •     Try to stop taking stress by some method like deep breathing, performing yoga, or other relaxation techniques
  •     Stop the usage of steroids, if you are diagnosed with rosacea

In severe cases, laser surgery may be used to cure rashes. If you are diagnosed with any type of rosacea, it is recommended to go to the doctor and get proper treatment to heal it. One thing should be kept in mind that, if you observe any symptoms of rosacea do not ignore it; otherwise it could lead to some other problems, which might hamper you in future.
