About Anxiety Symptoms Causes and Preventive Measure

Anxiety is a subjective feeling of apprehension or uneasiness that stem from the anticipation of danger,the source of which is largely unknown .It is usually accompanied by psychological and physical symptoms.

Anxiety is the result of a conflict between the personality and the environment or between different forces within the personality.It is an emotional reaction to the perception of danger that is experienced psychologically and physiologically .Anxiety arises not only in response to stimuli that pose a physical danger but also in response to situations which an individual may feel are difficult to cope with.

An anxiety disorder is a mental disorder often characterized by high levels of anxiety.  This usually causes a multitude of emotional and physical symptoms.  These symptoms include headache, sweating, spasms, fatigue, and exhaustion.  There are many different categorizations of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, and social anxiety disorder.  The aforementioned phobias are also considered a sub-type of anxiety disorder.

 Symptoms of Anxiety

  •     Difficulty swallowing
  •     Loss of interest in anything
  •     Depression
  •     Racing heart
  •     Disturbing thoughts
  •     Headaches
  •     Sweating
  •     Excessive, ongoing worry and tension
  •     An unrealistic view of problems
  •     Restlessness or a feeling of being "edgy"
  •     Difficulty concentrating
  •     Nausea
  •     Tiredness
  •     Trouble falling or staying asleep
  •     Trembling
  •     Being easily startled
  •     Irritability
  •     Muscle tension
  •     Blurred vision
  •     Feelings of Panic

Causes of Anxiety
anxiety may be caused by a mental condition, a physical condition, the effects of drugs, or from a combination of these. The doctor's initial task is to see if your anxiety is caused by a medical condition. Conditions as varied as anemia, asthma attack, infection, drug intoxication or withdrawal, or a number of heart conditions are just a few examples of medical problems that can be associated with anxiety.

Prevntive Measurement to Anxiety:
Anxiety disorders cannot be prevented. However, there are some things that you can do to control or lessen symptoms, including:

  •     Stop or reduce your consumption of products that contain caffeine, such as coffee, tea, cola and        chocolate.
  •     Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any over-the-counter medicines or herbal remedies. Many contain     chemicals that can increase anxiety symptoms.
  •     Exercise daily and eat a healthy, balanced diet.
  •     Seek counseling and support after a traumatic or disturbing experience.
  •     Practice stress management techniques like yoga or meditation.
