Stomach cancer refers to the malignant cells formed in the lining of the stomach. The stomach is a part of the digestive system and also forms a part of the organ in the upper abdomen. The digestive system is meant to process the food that is eaten. The digestive system breaks the food into the nutrients, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and water. This digestive system also helps to pass the waste out of the body. The food when eaten moves from the throat to the stomach. The tube that it passes from is called as the esophagus; it is actually a hollow muscular tube. The food leaves the stomach after passing through the digestive system and this partly digested food passes into the small intestine and then into the large intestine.
The cancer develops in the layers of the stomach and the wall of the stomach lining develops into three layers. The innermost layer is called the mucosal, the middle layer is the muscular is, and the outermost layer is called the aerosol. The stomach cancer develops in the cells lining the mucosal layer and spreads throughout the outer layer as it keeps growing. The person prone to stomach cancer can have certain factors, which are: age, diet and the stomach diseases. The increased risk of getting a cancer is what makes you prone for the risk factor. For people who don’t have these 3 factors, it still doesn’t imply that they are not risk for developing cancer and they should get themselves thoroughly checked and consult the doctor regarding this problem. Stomach cancer is also termed as gastric cancer. The risk factors include the following medical conditions like:
1. A helicobacter pylori infection of the stomach.
2. Inflammation of the stomach
3. Intestinalmetaplasia is a risky condition in which the original stomach lining is replaced. The replaced cells are the cells that line the intestines
4. Pernicious anemia
5. Gastric polyps
These risk factors are due to some of the conditions like having a diet which is high in the salt intake, smoked foods, and low in fruits and vegetables. The risk factor can also be due to the consumption of the foods which have not been stored properly. Avoiding eating stale food will also help in reducing the risk factors. Another factor is smoking cigarettes and the hereditary reasons are also increase the risk of stomach cancer.
The symptoms of the gastric cancer which leads to bloating are indigestion, stomach discomfort or pain. The other symptoms which are observed during the earlier stage are:
